By Jack Moore

Taunton Town moved three points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik League South, West table after they won 1-0 at home to North Leigh, while second-placed Bristol Manor Farm were hammered 5-1 at home by a now third-placed Evesham United on Saturday.

Taunton`s margin of victory should have been wider, having led in the 14th minute when Ben Wright was brought down in the box and Ben Adelsbury converted the resulting penalty.

But with 10 minutes remaining, North Leigh had a great chance to equalize but sub Harley Price saw his header cleared off the line by Les Afful.

Taunton should have added to their score 5 minutes later when Omar Simpson was fouled by North Leigh ‘keeper Manny Agboola and they were awarded a second penalty. However, this time Adelsbury hit the kick over the bar and it remained 1-0.

ewly-promoted Bristol Manor Farm were taught a lesson by Evesham, despite taking an 18th minute lead through Lloyd Mills.

Lewis Powell equalised 2 minutes later and the visitors led 3-1 at the break with further goals from Matt Williams and Linden Dovey.

Paul Fahy made it game over 15 minutes from time with number four and Adam Mann made it a nap hand 5 minutes into stoppage time.

Winchester City moved into fourth place after a 4-1 win at Barnstaple Town.

Simba Mlambo gave City an early 7th minute lead that Billy Hopcroft cancelled out after 18 minutes.

But Ollie Bailey bagged a brace in the 22nd and 34th minutes to send the visitors into the beak 3-1 ahead and Robbie Flooks added a fourth on 66 minutes.

Bottom-markers Bishops Cleeve picked up their first point of the season as they frustrated Salisbury FC at the Ray Mac in front of a crowd of 558.

Steve Claridge`s side huffed and puffed and had a Marvin Brooks effort cleared off the line, but a determined effort from Cleeve earned its reward.

Mangotsfield United remain second-bottom after losing 2-1 at Cossham Street to Slimbridge, whose Kieran Squires after 39 minutes and Joe Stokes 16 minutes from time proved enough, despite Laurent Davis-Wilson`s reply 3 minutes later.

Didcot Town earned a 4-2 Loop Meadow win over third-bottom Yate Town.

Two goals in a minute from George Reid and Sam Barder had Diddy in command by the 12th minute.

Ben Brooks pulled the Bluebells back into the game 10 minutes before half-time.

But that`s as good as it got for the visitors as Seth Humphries after 55 minutes and Louis Joyce 2 minutes later sealed Diddy`s win.

Ben Whitehead had Cirencester Town in front after just 8 minutes at the Corinium Stadium against Larkhall Athletic.

But George King eventually equalised after 64 minutes and the visitors won it through Alex Lambert 7 minutes from time.

Three minutes after the interval, Matt Oldring pulled the Magpies back on level terms, but neither side were able to win it.
