Saturday's Evo-Stik South, West Round-Up

By Jack Moore

Saturday saw something of a goal fest in the Evo-Stik League South, West.

Newcomers Bristol Manor Farm top the early table and, along with Taunton Town and Swindon Supermarine, have yet to lose this season to date.

Manor Farm won 3-1 at Wimborne Town with goals from Troy Simpson and Jacob Cox in the first half and Ben Bament in the second, with Poole Town loanee Luke Burbidge replying 12 minutes from time.

Supermarine were 3-0 winners at Mangotsfield United, whose new manager Wayne Thorne was watching.

Aaron Woodley and Lee Marshall had `Marine 2-0 up inside the opening 6 minutes, with Connor Thompson adding a second just before the beak.

The Peacocks dropped their first points of 2017/18 in a 2-2 draw at switched Kidlington.

Darius Browne gave the Oxfordshire hosts a 7th minute lead that Matt Wright cancelled out after 22 minutes.

On 58 minutes, Taunton had the opportunity to go 2-1 up when Wright was pushed in the box, but Bojan Tetek saved Ross Staley`s penalty.

Wright did put them ahead on 72 minutes, but a stoppage time leveller from Anaclet Odhiambo ended Taunton`s 100% record.

Salisbury FC hammered Shortwood United 8-0 on their own patch.

Marvin Brooks netted a hat-trick and there were singles for Sam Roberts, Tom Whelan, Kane O`Keefe and a Sam Ockwell own goal.

Another remarkable fact is that there were no dismissals or bookings for either side!

Not far behind Steve Claridge`s side were relegated Cinderford Town who hammered visiting Didcot Town 7-1.

Declan Morley-Lyne was the Foresters` hat-trick hero, with Lewis Bamford bagging a brace and Sammie Hicks and Andy Lewis singles – a Louis Joyce spot-kick all the Railwaymen could respond with.

North Leigh went nap at home against Barnstaple Town.

Five different scorers in Ed Stevens and Will Wellon in the first half and Connor Waldon, a Michael Hopkins penalty and Mark Magee in the second to give Barum a miserable long journey home.

AFC Totton also hit five without reply at home against a yet-to-win Yate Town.

After first half efforts from Alfie Whittingham and Olu Adekunle, the Stags added three more through a Curtis Young brace and a second for Adekunle in the second period.

Bishops Cleeve are the only other side yet to win this season and they went down 3-0 at neighbouring Paulton Rovers.

Joe Chandler after 13 minutes and Jack Ball 8 minutes before the break had Rovers in control before Joe Hillard added a killer third 5 minutes after half-time.

Ben Whitehead scored the only goal of the game to give relegated Cirencester Town the points at the Corinium Stadium against Winchester City, while Adam Mann netted all three of Evesham United`s goals at Bideford in the 27th, 67th and 80th minutes, with all the Devonians could muster being a Craig Duff spot-kick.

Marley Thomas bagged a brace for Slimbridge in the second half at Larkhall Athletic, who had led by the 9th minute after goals from George King and Joe Tumelty.
