Saturday's Evo-Stik South, West Review

By Jack Moore

Evesham United were unable to put a halt to Taunton Town`s fourteen-game unbeaten run on Saturday as the Peacocks recorded a 3-0 away win to extend their lead at the top of the Evo-Stik League South, West table to five points.

An understrength Evesham side conceded an 8th minute Dan Sullivan goal and Pierce Mitchell added a second for the visitors 5 minutes later.

Sullivan`s second and Taunton`s third didn`t arrive until 6 minutes from time, but the damage had already been done.

Second-placed Bristol Manor Farm slipped up by dropping two home points to struggling Cirencester Town.

And for the second successive match, Manor Farm threw away a two-goal lead given to them by Dean Stamp on the half-hour mark and then Harley Purnell 6 minutes after the break.

Ben Whitehead pulled the first back for Ciren on 67 minutes and then Tom Anderson equalised with less than 4 minutes remaining.

Bideford moved to within a point of Manor Farm in third after recording a 4-1 home win over Larkhall Athletic.

And they had to come back from conceding an early 5th minute lead to Greg Peel.

Ryan Turner levelled on the half-hour mark and then 10 minutes into the second half, Billy Tucker gave Biddy the lead.

Sean Downing on the hour-mark and Ben Seymour 5 minutes later added two more for the hosts.

Battling Cinderford Town did the other top six contenders a favour by holding Salisbury FC to a 1-1 home draw.

Zack Kotwica had given Steve Claridge`s Whites a 15th minute lead that Craig Norman cancelled out 5 minutes after the break.

AFC Totton complete the top six after they won 3-1 at Shortwood United.

It was a good day for the Stags on-loan striker Tony Lee, who netted a hat-trick inside the opening 22 minutes.

Adam Price replied after 35 minutes, but the damage had already been done.

Wimborne Town are seventh after they beat strugglers Mangotsfield Town at home.

Luke Burbidge opened the Magpies account on the half-hour mark and then Sam Bayston on 57 minutes and a Jamie Stokoe penalty on 69 minutes took the game away from the Mangos, whose Ed Weeks netted an 89th minute consolation.

Wimborne moved above Swindon Supermarine, whose game at the WebbsWood Stadium against Slimbridge was abandoned due to a serious injury to the visitors` Marley Thomas.

Joe Shepherd of `Marine and Slimbridge`s Dean Turner and Alex Hoyle were all sent-off before the abandonment.

Bottom side Bishops Cleeve suffered a 3-1 defeat at North Leigh, for whom Matt Grabe after 25 minutes, Piers McGlynn on 49 minutes and a Michael Hopkins spot-kick in the 84th minute were on target, Ben Tunnicliff having pulled one back for Cleeve after 69 minutes.

Not too far away, Anaclet Odhiambo bagged a brace in the 35th and 60th minutes to help Kidlington to a 3-0 home win over Paulton Rovers – Lewis Coyle adding the other 5 minutes from time.

Didcot Town moved up to ninth after recording a 4-2 Loop Meadow win over fourth-bottom Barnstaple Town – all the goals coming after the hour-mark when Lloyd Gardner gave Barum the lead.

Felipe Barcelos equalised 5 minutes later and Adam Learoyd gave Diddy a 73rd minute lead.

Alex Gray levelled with less than 2 minutes to go, but stoppage time goals from Sam Elkins and Barcelos again won it for the hosts.

And it finished 1-1 between Yate Town and Winchester City – Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist putting the Bluebells in front just before the break and Pat Cox levelling just after it.
