Dom Marsala gave the Walnut Boys a great start against their fellow top five contenders at Hillgrounds with an early ninth minute lead. Royston eventually pulled level through Dan Braithwaite on 67 minutes and then won it nine minutes from time, thanks to Adam Murray.
Zak Joseph gave visiting Hanwell Town a first-minute lead at Farnborough, who turned that round to lead 2-1 by half-time, thanks to the returning Jamie Cureton and Perry Coles. But a second for Joseph after 70 minutes and then Courtney Austin nine minutes later sealed Hanwell`s win.
Third-placed Marlow also dropped points after being held to a goalless draw at home by Fleet Town.
Barton Rovers in fifth were comfortable 3-0 winners at Love Lane against second-bottom Petersfield Town who, along with bottom-markers Histon, are in danger of being left stranded. Connor Calcutt bagged a first half brace for Rovers with Tom Smith adding a third 13 minutes from time.
Histon lost 2-1 at fellow strugglers Aylesbury FC, whose Josh Bamford and Jamie West converted penalties either side of Matt Allan`s reply for the Stutes, who are now thirteen points adrift of third-bottom Beaconsfield SYCOB, while Petersfield are only a couple of points better off.
It didn`t help that SYCOB won 2-1 at Ashford Town (Middx), coming back from being a Kameron English goal down right on half-time to win, thanks to Jack McKnight after 49 minutes and then Callum Bunting six minutes into stoppage time from the spot.
Kidlington also helped their cause near the bottom end of the table with a 4-2 win at Northwood in which Lewis Coyle bagged all four for the visitors in the 33rd, 67th, 74th from the spot and 86th minutes – Myles Stephenson and Louis Stead replying.
Egham Town were on the wrong end of a 5-0 Runnymede Stadium drubbing by Aylesbury United, who leap-frogged the Sarnies into tenth spot.
Bruno Lobo De Brito scored the only goal of the opening period for the Ducks after 10 minutes. But they added further goals from Sonny French and Tre Mitford, who both bagged braces in the second half.
A Craige Tomkins penalty and Alan Hedley`s effort had Chalfont St Peter two-up by half-time at home to Uxbridge – a lead they held on to – and Arlesey Town also held on to their 23rd minute advantage given to them by Rafe Goodman at home to sixth-placed AFC Dunstable.
And it ended all-square at 1-1 between Bedford Town and Potters Bar Town at the New Eyrie where Steve Karkari`s 18th opener was cancelled out two minutes before the break by a Michael Murray penalty.
