Saturday's Cental Division review

By David Watters

Chalfont St Peter made it five wins from the opening five matches of the new EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central season on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Saints won 1-0 at Arlesey Town, thanks to a 67th minute Charlie Strutton effort.

Farnborough won for a fourth time, and emphatically too, 5-0 at the Glassworld Stadium against another side who came down last season, Histon.

The youthful Stutes found themselves 3-0 down at the break, courtesy of a Nic Ciardini brace after 28 and 38 minutes and a Jack Barton goal on 41 minutes. John Sonuga on the hour-mark made it 4-0 and Ciardini completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot with 19 minutes to go.

Potters Bar Town, newly-promoted AFC Dunstable, Royston Town and Hanwell Town are all yet to be beaten thus far.

A fifth minute goal from Jack Lyons goal for Potters Bar, followed by two second half efforts from Ryan Forde on 55 minutes and Michael Murray in the 90th minute saw off a battling Petersfield Town side, whose Stuart Green had levelled in the 50th minute.

Jermaine Hall bagged a brace for AFC Dunstable at home to fellow new boys Kidlington, who are yet to win, in the 14th and 65th minutes.

But the visitors twice battled back, levelling the first through Jack Dunmall on 55 minutes and then second by Lewis Brownhill`s spot-kick 20 minutes from time.

The Crows won 1-0 at Aylesbury United, thanks to John Frendo`s goal six minutes from time, while Hanwell made it four draws from five games after a goalless encounter with an Egham Town side who finished with ten-men.

Newly-promoted AFC Kempston Rovers made it three wins with a good 3-0 success at Calthorpe Park against Fleet Town.

Jermaine Ivy gave the Walnut Boys the lead a minute before the break and then a brace from new signing Danny Watson in the 68th and 86th minutes sealed the visitors` win.

Another league newcomer, Ashford Town (Middx), also recorded a third win, 1-0 at home against Aylesbury FC, thanks to Alex Fisher`s 77th minute goal.

Beaconsfield SYCOB joined Histon and Kidlington in a still winless start to the 2016-17 campaign after being demolished 5-1 at Holloways Park by Bedford Town.

Luke Knight`s 17th minute penalty for the Eagles was cancelled out by Oliver McCoy 11 minutes later. But Jemale McKenzie-Lowe on 32 minutes and Phil Draycott six minutes later sent the visitors into the break 3-1 up. And a Lee Roache brace after 57 and 89 minutes made it a nap hand for the Eagles.

Bedford`s county neighbours Barton Rovers were only just behind the Eagles on the goal chart, running out 4-0 winners at Sharpenhoe Road against Uxbridge.

Connor Calcutt after 23 minutes and Elliot Bailey on 36 minutes gave Rovers a 2-0 interval cushion. Often a dangerous lead – but not this time as Charlie Smith and Alex O`Brien added further goals in the 76th and 79th minutes to kill the game off.

Anaclet Odhiambo bagged a brace in the second and 78th minutes as Marlow won 2-1 at home to Northwood, whose Myles Stephenson pulled them level on 68 minutes.
