Saints Make Fruitful 351-Mile Round Trip

Exhausting Awayday

St Ives Town made their 351-mile midweek round trip to Frome Town well worthwhile by gaining a 1-0 win at the SpecialEffect Stadium to move eighteen points clear of bottom-markers Gosport Borough in the Evo-Stik League South Premier on Wednesday night.

What proved to be the only goal of the game came after just 7 minutes when Ben Withey brought down Attacker Tom Knowles on the break.

A penalty was awarded and was converted low to the right by Ogbonna.

he same player and a similar break almost doubled the visitors` lead later, but this time Frome `keeper Kyle Phillips saved one-on-one with his feet and the danger was cleared.

At the other end, Jon Davies` overhead kick was tipped over the bar by St Ives `keeper Tim Trebes.

But the home side`s frustrations were complete late on when Sam Teale received a straight red card for a nasty-looking challenge.
