Reserve stars lift relegated Rams

Fans of Petersfield will be hoping the stars of their second string can step up next season to help them bounce back from EVO-STIK League Southern relegation.

Unlike their first team's dismal season that ended in relegation from the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One Central, the reserves at the Love Lane home of the Rams completed a league and cup 'double' this weekend.

After securing the Wyvern League Division 1 East title at the end of April by romping to a 5-1 win over their nearest rivals Baffins Milton Rovers, Shane Brayson's champions lifted the Wyvern Challenge Cup on Friday night with a 2-1 victory over AFC Stoneham at the Clayfields Sports Centre home of Wessex League outfit Hythe and Dibden.

The Rams are set to drop into Step 5 in the Wessex League for the 2017-18 season after the Hampshire club's rock bottom finish to the 2016-17 campaign with just nine points from two wins and three draws in 42 outings.
