Railwaymen rally to draw despite being down to 10 men

Rescued a point

An irrepressible 10-man Didcot Town twice fought back from two goals down to rescue a point against Shortwood United on Saturday.

The resilient Railwaymen battled back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to draw 3-3, despite Ollie Thomas being dismissed for a two-footed challenge on 35 minutes.

After a positive start for the visitors, Andy Ballard’s men found themselves 2-0 down within 17 minutes.

Sam Elkins reduced the deficit moments before Thomas received his marching orders.

Shortwood restored their two-goal advantage shortly after the restart but Didcot’s fighting spirit meant the result was far from sealed.

Felipe Barcelos had a cross deflected into the net moments later and, with six minutes remaining, Marlon Agyakwa found the bottom corner to extend Diddy’s unbeaten run to five games.
