PURITIAN'S MIKE SMITH DOING A RUNNER !!

By David Simpson

A Charity close to the heart of CBS Membership Secretary Mike Seaton

In August 2015 Mike’s brother and his wife gave birth to their first child, Sydney. After an awful lot of uncertainty and worry he was diagnosed with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy, a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy which will unfortunately shorten his lifespan and impede his mobility and other aspects of his life as he grows up.
Added to this it was discovered that his sister in law and her two siblings, also have muscular dystrophy, albeit to differing levels, and have a high probability of any offspring they produce also having the condition.

Muscular Dystrophy UK have been extremely supportive during this difficult period and as such Mike wanted to do something to fundraise for them.

Taking up a challenge he will be completing a three-pronged challenge over the next month and a half as follows:

17th September- London Duathlon (10k run, 44k Bike, 5k Run)
8th October- Bournemouth Half Marathon (13.1 Mile)
17th October Birmingham International Marathon (26.2 Mile)

With the full support of Banbury United, Mike will be passing a bucket or two amongst the faithful, or donate to his justgiving page in respect of his three-pronged challenge.

A great effort, a real Challenge

Where next?
