Dropped to sixth

Swindon Supermarine interim manager Lee Spalding is expecting a strong positive reaction from his squad after their 1-3 defeat away at fellow promotion hopefuls AFC Totton on Tuesday night as they travel to Paulton Rovers this Saturday writes Nick Taylor.

Marine dropped down to sixth in the league standings after their loss in Hampshire and face another tough encounter when they take on John Rendell’s side who sit in the false position of sixteenth.

“Every game now is massive, we’ll be looking to win it on Saturday and aim for a clean sheet,” Spalding said ahead of the clash.

Paulton will enter the game buoyed by a confidence-boosting 4-3 away win at Cinderford Town on Thursday night, having also played on Tuesday with Spalding still expecting a difficult game at Winterfield Road despite the hosts busy schedule this week, “They are a big, strong, physical side and if we’re not at it we’ll get beat! The lads are still very positive despite the defeat at Totton, who were a good side on Tuesday night. We could have got something on the night and were a little unlucky.

Marine will need to shackle free-scoring Jack Ball who notched his twentieth of the season in the win at Cindeford. Ball was the subject of an approach by Marine earlier in the year by former manager Dave Webb, with the striker deciding to stay in Somerset.
