Poppies Return For Westcarr

...

Kettering Town manager Marcus Law has brought forward Craig Westcarr back to the now Evo-Stik Southern League Central club.

The 33-year-old re-joins the Poppies after leaving Vanarama National League North side Alfreton Town recently.

Westcarr played 58 times for the Reds, scoring 22 goals, since arriving from SkyBet League Two outfit Mansfield Town at the end of the 2015/16 season.

He scored 4 goals for the Stags before being sent out on loan to then-National League side Southport in March 2016.

Westcarr scored twice in 11 appearances for the Sandgrounders but returned to his native East Midlands with Alfreton after being released by the Stags.

After starting his career with home-town club Nottingham Forest, Westcarr dropped into non-League football with Cambridge United and then Kettering in May 2006.

He helped the Poppies to the Conference North title in 2007/08 under Mark Cooper and famously scored twice against Fulham in an FA Cup Fourth Round tie in 2009.

After leaving Kettering, he went on to play in the Football League for Notts County, Chesterfield, Walsall and Portsmouth before moving to Mansfield.
