AFC Rushden & Diamonds bounced back to winning ways in emphatic style on Tuesday night as they thrashed Thame United 6-0.
They were 4-0 up by half-time before a couple more in the second period – including a late Ryan Robbins penalty which completed his hat-trick – added gloss to a fine scoreline. Ben Farrell (2) and Joel Gyasi got the other goals. It was a welcome result but, perhaps even more so, a welcome performance from Diamonds who had lost their previous game to Egham Town.
That outcome brought an end to their long unbeaten run, but boss Andy Peaks was impressed by how his side responded. “I asked for a reaction after Egham and we got it,” he explained. “The players responded fantastically and once we got ahead we never looked back. “The Egham match was a reminder there is still a lot of hard work for us to do.
