Peacocks staying..

...

Taunton Town's chairman and chief executive Kevin Sturmey has ruled out selling the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division South club's ground and moving to a purpose-built stadium.

The Peacocks considered a move away from the Viridor Stadium some years ago but nothing came of it.

Now Sturmey says the club intends to modernise the ground in readiness for climbing the football pyramid.

He said: "Land values are nothing like they used to be. You would probably have to sell our ground for £10 million and we wouldn't get that.

"We have to try and develop the Viridor Stadium and perhaps secure some more land close by".
