PAUL Maitland and Tom Prodomo have stressed that there will be no significant change as they embrace their new titles at Weymouth, after it was announced the former was becoming director of football, while Prodomo steps into Maitland’s old shoes as assistant-manager.
The move, effective immediately, was announced at the fans’ forum on Monday to applause from the Weymouth fans after they had seen their side beat Gosport Borough 5-0.
Prodomo said: “In reality they are just titles and think the important thing is that we are keeping the staff together.
“It is something that we have pushed for internally and a model that really works for us and I think it probably accentuates all of the strengths that we have got within the staff from that point of view it is business as usual.”
Maitland admitted: “It is a role that I have pretty much been fulfilling for most of the season so it is really just been a case of the board rubber-stamping that and making sure we were happy with how it was going to pan out.
“It will not mean that I do anything very different to what I am doing now as Mark said at the forum, it will be to bridge the gap between the board and the management because in a football club of this size there is a lot going on all of the time.
Both spoke about looking ahead to the future at Weymouth, which they will be at for another year as part of the contract extension that the management staff signed which was announced prior to their role changes at the forum.
Maitland said: “I look forward it is going to be a case of having to work even harder which I am more than happy to do so. I have really enjoyed working with Mark and Tom and the other staff as well as the players. We believe that this will be another step for us to move forward.”
