Ryan Mackerness joins the coaching staff as goalkeeper and dedicated defensive coach

Cinderford Town are delighted to announce the appointment of Ryan Mackerness as Goalkeeper Coach & First Team Coach to the club’s management staff. Ryan has his own goalkeeper coaching company having previously worked full time as Goalkeeper Coach at Newport County. Ryan was part of Justin Edinburgh’s backroom team that won promotion to the Football Leage during a highly successful spell at the club.

Paul Michael is delighted with the acquisition and had the following statement to make on Ryan’s appointment.

“We are delighted to have Ryan on board as he will have a huge impact on the club and hopefully the wider community. First and foremost we can be assured that Alex Harris, and any other keepers that come into the club, will receive the very highest standard of goalkeeper coaching. Ryan is also first team coach because he will lead on monitoring defensive positioning & protection away from the ball whilst we are in possession as well as leading on defensive set pieces.

With myself, Smudge, Ryan & Kev I now feel that we are well placed to give the players the level of support and guidance required in order to be successful.”

Ryan’s appointment also means that Cinderford Town are able to offer specialist goalkeeper coaching to our youth teams and the wider community over the coming seasons. This is something that has been lacking in the Forest of Dean and we are hopeful of offering the highest quality service to the young players in the community and the surrounding area. Please keep an eye on our social media for opportunities and further details of these sessions which will be announced shortly.
