Mutton Makes Permanent Reds Return

Uncompromising Centre Back

Evo-Stik League South Premier club Redditch United have announced the signing of Jimmy Mutton until the end of 2018/19 season after a successful loan spell.

Mutton first joined the Reds on loan from Evo-Stik League Premier side Hednesford Town earlier this year.

Mutton is a strong central defender who re-joined the Pitmen last summer.

The 6’4” central defender began his career as a trainee at Birmingham City.

He failed to make a first-team appearance at St Andrews and was allowed to join local side Coleshill Town in 2012.

He impressed in the Midland Alliance, earning a trial at Colchester United in November 2012

He linked up with Stratford Town later that season, where he won the Midland Alliance title.

Redditch signed the defender in the summer of 2013, with Mutton cementing his reputation as a uncompromising centre-back during his time with the Reds.

A defeat to Leamington in the 2016 play-off semi-final saw Mutton joining team-mates George Carline and Ashley Sammons in following their former manager to Hednesford.

He would depart the club in December 2016 and re-register with Redditch a month later, seeing out the season before making a U-turn and re-joined the Pitmen in May 2017 after talks with then-manager Neil Tooth.
