Monday's Premier Division Review

By Jack Moore

Stratford Town moved up to thirteenth in the Evo-Stik League South Premier table on Monday night after inflicting a second successive defeat on lowly Dorchester Town at the Avenue Stadium.

The visitors, who came into the game in a bit of form, having not lost in four, were grateful to goalkeeper Louis Connor for keeping the scoreline blank at the interval.

He was finally rewarded just past the hour-mark when his team took the lead when Phil Ormerod`s cross was finished well by Billy Lowes from 12 yards out.

But the Magpies` lead lasted barely a minute as Ben Stephens cut in and curled a neat effort past Doerchester`s experienced `keeper Chris Weale.

The home side then had a great chance to re-take the lead when they were awarded a penalty, but Ormerod`s spot-kick was saved by Connor.

And then, in the final minute of normal time, a corner was headed home by Loyiso Recci to give Stratford all three points and leave the Magpies in twentieth place and ruing those missed opportunities.
