FA Trophy clash

After an important 3-1 victory against Stratford Town, attention now turns to the FA Trophy and a trip to high flying Southern League West team, Taunton Town.

Ian Traylor, Kerry Morgan and Eliot Richards gave the Martyrs a much needed confidence boost on Tuesday night after scoring the goals that kept Merthyr in touch in the play-off positions. The Martyrs are now looking forward to a break from League action and focusing on a run in The Buildbase FA Trophy against Taunton Town.

The Peacocks are sitting at the top of the Southern League West table after an impressive start to their season. Taunton have progressed to the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy after a 2-1 victory against AFC Totton in the preliminary round replay earlier this Month. Captain Matt Wright has been influential for The Peacocks since his arrival with 28 goals in 49 appearances and the prolific striker is enjoying another competitive season to help Taunton reach the top of the table.

As for The Martyrs, Ryan Prosser took part in light training and is encouraged by his progress but his injury is still being monitored. Kyle Patten and Ian Traylor also sat out in training but are both expected to be fit for the trip to The Viridor Stadium on Saturday. The prize money for the winner on Saturday will receive £3,250 and the replay, if needed, will be played on Tuesday 31st October.
