Cambridge City go in search of an FA Cup giant killing tomorrow when they make the trip to St Albans.

The Saints sit 4th in National League South, two divisions higher than the Lilywhites so are hot favourites to progress to the Third Qualifying Round. However, City have already proved they can knock out higher grade opposition following their victory over St Neots in the last round, and will make the trip knowing that all the pressure will be heaped on the home side to get a result.

Games between the two sides were common place up to a few years ago, and the last time the two teams came head to head was at the end of the 2013/14 season when they were paired in a play-off semi-final. City lost the game 4-2, and St Albans went on to win the final and with it promotion to the National League South.

The league form of St Albans shows a statistic of won 7, drawn 2, and lost 1 of their opening 10 fixtures. The only defeat was a 3-2 reverse against Gloucester City. The hosts tomorrow warmed up for the match against City with a last gasp 2-1 win over Havant & Waterlooville on Tuesday night.

City go into the game in good form after they made it 3 wins out of 3 in all competitions with a 1-0 win over Northwood last Saturday. Boss Robbie Nightingale has no new injury concerns ahead of the tie and will be looking for a heroic performance from his team. If they are to progress, then City will have to get the ball past goalkeeper Dean Snedker. The St Albans stopper is no stranger to the Lilywhites as he was signed by Robbie Nightingale and was first choice goalkeeper for City during the second half of last season.

The Lilywhites look set to be backed by a large band of travelling fans that will be making the trip to Clarence Park hoping that their team will be able to produce an FA Cup upset.

If you are not one of those fans making the trip, then don’t forget that you can follow all the action through the official club Facebook page and twitter feed which will be updated throughout the afternoon. A match report will be available on the official club website on Saturday evening.

Kick-off at Clarence Park is at 3:00pm.
