Kettering Town will come up against the Evo-Stik South League Premier’s top scorer on Saturday. Weymouth’s Brandon Goodship leads the way with 30 goals in the league this season.
But one of those chasing the Terras hotshot is Poppies striker Aaron O’Connor.
The experienced frontman’s superb campaign hit a new height on Tuesday night as his hat-trick, his first for the club, helped Kettering to a dramatic 4-3 victory over 10-man Dorchester Town at Latimer Park.
That took him on to 32 goals in all competitions this season and 25 in the league.
The achievement brought with it high praise from boss Marcus Law who brought O’Connor to the club last season.
“I said when we signed Aaron that if we got him up to full fitness then he would be a forced to be reckoned with and I think that has been proven now,” Law said. “He has repaid the faith I have shown in him and for him to hit 30 goals already this season is an excellent achievement.
