Leading brewers sponsor makeover

Fans visiting Banbury United's home when the new EVO-STIK League Southern season kicks off will will be enjoying a drink in added comfort after the Puritans celebrated a new sponsorship deal with one of the country's leading brewers.

Thriving FTSE 250 listed company Marston's Brewery are the new sponsors of The Spencer, the EVO-STIK League Southern club's newly renamed clubhouse.

Already one of the Oxfordshire club's main suppliers, the brewing and hospitality giants agreed to sponsor the newly refurbished clubhouse to help the fan-run Puritans keep their commitment to supporters to honour their history and heritage as Banbury Spencer.

Work has also been completed on the clubhouse to make it a more attractive venue for private hire and the Puritans are now looking forward to giving fans a better match day experience following the refurbishment and purchase of BT Sport's full package for the 2017-18 season so fans can enjoy the Premier League games kicking off before and after their home games on a Saturday.

Marston’s business development manager for the South Midlands, Charlotte Robertson, is delighted her company is stepping up their relationship with the Puritans who've also resurfaced their car park as part of a major makeover of The Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium.

She said: “We’ve been involved with Banbury United for some time now and the club approached us to say that they were looking to get sponsorship and help towards making improvements to the clubhouse.

"They asked if we would be interested in helping them to enhance the venue, which we saw as a fantastic opportunity. To be involved with a supporter owned club is something new to us and if the venue is used more then it’s good for the club and us too.”

Mark Allitt, United’s commercial director, said “I’m delighted to have concluded a sponsorship package with Marston’s Brewery after opening negotiations back in February. Marston’s have been our main supplier for some time now, but will now back the club with a cash injection and cost effective stock deal.

"As supporters will remember, when we decided to rename our stadium, we pledged we would find a part of the ground to remember our history and heritage as Banbury Spencer and in keeping with that and to highlight our sponsorship with Marston’s, the clubhouse will now be known as “The Spencer”. Fans will see a newly painted clubhouse, with eye catching Marston’s branding placed around it.”

The Puritans have also renamed their main clubhouse room 'The Dennis and Evelyn Green Suite' after the parents of Puritans Radio station manager and United board member Stewart Green. Pictured alongside Robertson and Allitt, the club's officials say they wanted to acknowledge the "outstanding" and "considerable" donation he'd made to upgrade the clubhouse toilets, flooring and furniture.
