Hereford FC’s Disabled supporters group the Hereford Disabulls are converting themselves into a Disabled Supporters Association (DSA). The group which was set up in January 2015 will be forming into a DSA after consultation with the club after many productive meetings over the past few weeks. One of the first areas incoming General Manager James Watts raised after his appointment was the need to progress the club in the area facilities for Disabled supporters.
Watts saw the forming of a DSA at his former club from Colin Faulkner who has constantly been liaising with Hereford FC and the Disabulls whilst preparing a short term and long-term plan. Watts has previously seen the difference made by a DSA group and how there has been an increase in disabled supporters being confident to attend games knowing they will have support and was quick to suggest the formation of the same thing at Hereford FC to help move the club forward.
Hereford FC General Manager James Watts said, “There are more and more Disabled supporters now attending football matches up and down the country and we at Hereford FC want to provide the best facilities that we possibly can for our Disabled supporters and those from visiting clubs”.
The group will focus on improving the matchday experience for disabled supporters, working with the club to provide information, advice and raise funds for those wishing to attend games. The group will be independent of the club and assist them in matters relating to disability and work with them, however their first loyalty is to disabled supporters and their rights. There have already been donations of ponchos and blankets from Arkwright Owens along with the sponsorship of the Disabled area at Edgar Street from Kingspan Insulation.
