YMOUTH manager Mark Molesley feels that the Terras can learn from a difficult 4-1 defeat away to Hereford in the first qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.
Molesley said: “We are a young side, we will learn and we will bounce back.”
While no defeat is easy to take Molesley said that there was plenty of positives to take from the game.
The Terras had several good chances with Jake McCarthy and Harry Baker both having efforts cleared off the line.
Baker was put through on goal as early as the second minute but his shot was blocked for a corner by Bulls’ keeper Martin Horsell.
Molesley said: “I think we could have been two or three goals up, we didn’t take our chances.”
The Bulls scored twice in three minutes in the latter stages of the first half, with a long ball allowing John Mills to score the opener before the striker again found the space to shoot past Travers.
Jake McCarthy scored with a header eight minutes into the second half to reduce the deficit.
However, Hereford sealed the tie when Lance Smith tucked in a rebound.
A quick free-kick then helped Mills to secure his hat-trick seven minutes later.
Molesley added: “The last two goals we feel quite aggrieved but we won’t look for excuses, we are in control of our own downfall.”
Despite the difference in score line the Terras’ manager feels the difference was much smaller than the score suggested.
Molesley said: “The score line flattered them. They are a very big strong experienced side, I think that was the only difference.”
