Named over the weekend as the successor to Tony Ricketts at the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West club, former Paulton Rovers keeper Rendell will be at Athletic Field from 8.30pm on Tuesday to meet supporters "informally" with his newly appointed number two Paul Tovey.
Rendell stood down as a first team coach and number two to Paul Britton at EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West rivals Yate Town to take the post over the weekend. Also a product of the youth system at the Bluebells, he went on to play professionally for Cardiff City and a host of Non-League clubs before moving into management.
Paulton Rovers chairman Dave Bissex hailed the appointment of the club's new touchline team in a statement on Sunday confirming the hunt for a successor to Ricketts was over following his departure at the end of the season after nearly two years at the helm since October 2015.
Bissex said: “After interviewing a number of quality candidates from a large number of applicants we are delighted to appoint John, who was assistant-manager at league rivals Yate Town last season. Both he and Paul know the club well from their playing days. They take up the reins with immediate effect.”
