Falling out led to a step up

Enjoying new challenge

Aysa Corrick found himself without a club after a falling out with Hellenic League Premier Division leaders Highworth Town.

He had netted 46 goals for the Wiltshire side last season and was named Hellenic League player of the year, adding another 12 this term.

But when Southern League Evesham United came calling in December, he did not need to be asked twice.

The 23-year-old forward has enjoyed the challenge of swapping one promotion chase for another, one level higher up the football pyramid.

"Leaving Highworth came after a falling out with people at the club after things were said which were very hurtful and should of never been heard inside or outside of football," Corrick said.

"I stopped playing for a couple of weeks, but Evesham heard about my situation and put in seven days for me along with a few other clubs, but I spoke to a few people and was told that Evesham was the best option."

Corrick has also previously been on the books of Yate Town, Paulton Rovers, Hallen, Bitton and Gloucester City.

He is still adjusting after his return to the higher level, but the Bristol-born striker is confident he can help Evesham secure a place in the Southern League Premier Division next season.

"I'm finding it harder then I expected to be honest and I don't think I've ever spent so much time on a bench my whole life!" he said.

"But that's down to how much quality is at Evesham.

"It's a big step up and things are so much more professional so I've had to apply my self a lot differently.

"I've noticed it's a lot more direct then the league below and a lot more unpredictable.

"We have a very competitive bunch of lads with a lot of quality and versatility in the team.

"Promotion is the club's main goal and were reminded every time we turn up to the ground."
