Ex-player hands over cup profits!

North Leigh manager John Brough has been hailing the generosity of Eastleigh chairman Stewart Donald for donating the gate receipts of their Emirates FA Cup clash on Saturday to the EVO-STIK League Southern's Millers.

A former North Leigh player whose company Bridle Insurance sponsor the Millers’ shirts, Donald decided to hand over the National League club's share of the proceeds after seeing his team end the EVO-STIK League Southern South & West club's record-breaking run.

The funds from the 889 fans who saw the 6-0 win in the fourth qualifying round will be added to £16,925 in FA prize money Brough's side has already earned and he said: “That is a very good gesture. I am sure the chairman [Peter King] will be very happy.”

Brough, pictured, also saluted his players after admitting the heavy defeat had been a ‘step too far’ for his history-making side, telling oxfordmail.co.uk: "It was just a step too far. Fair credit to my boys, they kept going. Six goals is always hard to take but I am really pleased for the club and the players to get this far.”
