Robbie Nightingale has told his Cambridge City side that they have to earn the right to win if they’re to make the play-offs.
The Lilywhites remain seventh in Southern One East following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Thame United and are now five points off the top five.
And while they have up to three games in hand on the teams above them, most of which are against struggling sides, manager Nightingale is taking nothing for granted.
“I’m still confident as we have a lot of ability, and before this week we were scoring a lot of goals,” he said. “You look at the fixtures we have in March and there are some really good ones which I have high hopes that we can turn into positive results.
“We still have 13 games left and there’s so much still to play for. There’s lots of points still to play for and we can really put some pressure on those above us. They’ve all still got to play each other too.
“We’ve still got two or three games in hand, and our games in hand are against three of the bottom five. These are games we should be winning, but at the same time, we have to earn the right to win.
