Manager Tony McCool ready for Biggleswade ..
We’ve been on a horrible run of defeats, which was the result of awful bad luck and a couple of unusual poor performances. We do know that it is going to be tough for us and it was unfortunate that after we got a run of form in terms of performances, we then were back to 9/10 players out and with a cancelled fixture we had a long time to go stale over two weeks.
Thankfully the board have reacted to that quickly and have made immediate changes to support further training to prevent that happening again.
On and off the pitch, we keep getting better but always with small sustainable steps. On the back of those circumstances we were not able to prevent a heavy defeat and then we
slipped to another with high flying Kettering. That was an experience I wouldn’t like to repeat every week for more than football reasons.
Boxing Day at Banbury we had the usual 9 unavailable for different reasons leaving us with 15 which including a keeper and a first time call up for Ben Carter from the development
squad. However the starting 11 we felt was strong, had good balance and had a good game plan. From the moment we walked in the dressing room there was a good feeling. That went onto the warm up and then into the game.
We conceded on 12 mins but this seemed to really drive the lads on more and back to front every player was awesome and stuck to the plan.
It was a very mature performance fromthe players and a well-deserved win that was well acknowledged by the Banbury manager
afterwards.
We are certainly not getting carried away but of
course we want to build on that performance and as
I said in public we will prove that you can win matches
with good football and young players.
We will besticking to the ethos. Game by game with continuity
in personal we can also gain the confi dence we need
to climb the table as the lads game understanding
and management needed for this level.
