Despite missing Jimmy Fry and Liam Francis through suspension Town produced a determined hard working performance from every player and deservedly came away with the points.
The opening minutes of the game saw Town closing down the Chesham side high up the pitch and were winning possession in midfield and moving the ball quickly forcing the home side continually give the ball away.
It was no surprise when Town took the lead on 6 minutes, a good move down the right saw Grocott and Ahenkorah exchange some crisp passes before the ball was fed through to Eli Bako who drove to the bye line before squaring the ball across the six yard box where Charlie Evans tapped home.
The game continued in the same vain and it took some 15 minutes before Chesham made any inroads into the Town half. But all over the park Town were closing down quickly and making it difficult for home side to get a foothold in the game. On the break Town were looking dangerous and a super run and cross by Ben Stephens just evaded the onrushing Edwin Ahenkorah.
It was 33 minutes before Connor was forced into action when he spectacularly tipped over a dipping volley and a period of pressure followed with Chesham forcing several corners as Town were pressed back.
The equaliser came on 36 minutes when Connor's punched clearance dropped on the edge of the box and Crilley fired home.
The second half started with Mike Taylor replacing Edwin Ahenkorah and the home side started positively, forcing several corners and Town found it difficult to get out of their own half. But in midfield the challenges were fast and furious and Town gave as good as they got and gradually started to get on top.
Two minutes later Town went ahead, another good move down the left and the ball came to Will Grocott who calmy controlled the ball with his chest before unleashing a first time volley that flew past a static keeper.
A frenetic closing 10 minutes saw bookings for Crilley after a challenge on Ben Stephens who was then booked himself 3 minutes later, Connor was booked for time wasting as Town tried to see the game out but on 88 minutes it was game over when Lee Thomas burst forward down the left and his cross was put through his own goal by Locke.
A very difficult Away three points in the bag..
