Andy Peaks believes AFC Rushden & Diamonds will be full of confidence for a “massive” game at Hayden Road tonight (Tuesday). Diamonds ended a six-game run without a win with a 4-1 success over Aylesbury United at the weekend.
That victory ensured Diamonds remain in control of their own destiny as they sit in the second automatic promotion place in the Evo-Stik South League East behind current leaders Beaconsfield Town.
But a win over fifth-placed AFC Dunstable this evening will send Peaks’ team back to the top and, more importantly, five points clear of third-placed Hayes & Yeading United.
It really is crunch time for Diamonds in their bid to move up to Step Three. And boss Peaks said: “It’s a massive game against a good team. “I have watched them a few times this season and they have some good players, we will have to be at our best to get what we want. “I am sure the win at the weekend will have given us a boost in confidence.
