Both AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Beaconsfield Town secured promotion from the Evo-Stik League South East on Tuesday night.
In front of a crowd of 546 on a rainy evening at Hayden Road, a Ben Farrell brace and one from Joel Gyasi gave the Diamonds a 3-1 interval lead against second-bottom Aylesbury FC – Davide Pobbe having reduced the deficit for the Moles in the 35th minute.
Farrell completed his hat-trick just past the hour-mark and then, after skipper Liam Dolman had added a fifth 2 minutes later, Ben Diamond bagged a brace in the 73rd and 79th minutes to make it a comprehensive win.
Beaconsfield beat AFC Dunstable, who are assured a top six spot, 4-0 at Holloways Park.
Tony Mendy gave the home side a 10th minute lead that a Danny Murphy own goal doubled 9 minutes later, with Mendy making it 3-0 at half-time with his second goal on 38 minutes.
Lee Barney scored the only goal of the second period with 20 minutes to go.
All eyes now will be on Beaconsfield`s game in hand tomorrow at Egham Town, who lost 2-1 at the Runnymede Stadium to already-doomed Arlesey Town, for whom Keanu Williams bagged a brace in the 14th and 44th minutes, Laurie Diakiesse replying.
Hartley Wintney`s outside hopes of nicking the title took a terminal blow with a 1-0 defeat at Hillgrounds against Kempston Rovers, whose Jake Newman scored the only goal just past the half-hour mark.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, Kier Dickson and Evans Kouassi scored in the final 2 minutes to secure a 2-0 win for Northwood at Chestnut Avenue against Hanwell Town, while Marley Ridge and Sam Pearce scored in either half to secure Moneyfields` home victory over Ashford Town (Middx).
