Darnton, pictured, returned this week as the right-hand man to Danny Robinson in the Hellenic Premier Division after his two month stint as interim manager in the wake of Steve Hollick's departure came to an end in November following the appointment of Louis Langdown as the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West club's new manager.
After his spell holding the fort at the Testwood Stadium, the former defender – who played over 700 games at Southern and Ryman League level - is looking forward to a new challenge with ex-Wessex and Southern League club Thatcham who are currently fourth in the Hellenic's top flight and gunning for promotion.
Romsey-based Darnton told www.dailyecho.co.uk this week: “It’s a fresh challenge for me in an area I haven’t worked in before. There are lots of new clubs to go to which keeps it interesting. I've known Danny a long time. He's a good manager and I trust him."
