Banbury United Commercial Director Mark Allitt was given a big surprise this week as he was given the unexpected news that he himself was getting sponsored! Warren Bartlett, Allitt’s right hand man in the commercial team, has been beavering away behind the scenes and unbeknown to Mark discreetly secured a unique package from Banbury’s leading independent clothes shop Revival, based in Parsons Street.
Warren Bartlett finally spilled the beans and said “Mark has overseen and signed off a six figure sum of sponsorship for the current season, so there isn’t much left in the ground to sponsor, so I thought, well why not get him sponsored?! The club had one main sponsor before the supporter take over in August 2015, now it has 76! It’s an unbelievable achievement and I thought it was well worth a reward. I made some undercover enquiries and found out Mark’s favourite clothes shop was Revival. The owner Nik Hale knows Mark well and was more than happy to support what I was up to. The hardest part was keeping it a secret!”
Revival owner Nik Hale added, “Mark has been buying clothes from me for years and he’s always kept me informed on how the club is getting on. I’ve just opened my new shop in Parsons Street and Mark has been supporting me in my venture, so when Warren approached me about getting Mark sponsored I was delighted to help. By supporting Mark, I’m supporting the club and the community. The fans have done a great job turning the fortunes of Banbury United around and I will be giving all their CBS club members a 10% discount in Revival on production of their BUFC membership
