Match Preview

Chelmsford City FC The Clarets reached the Third Qualifying Round with a comfortable 7-0 win over Ramsgate two weeks ago but were held to a 0-0 draw in the Vanarama National League South at Poole Town last Saturday

Chelmsford City could be without striker Shaun Batt and Elliott Omozusi as they both remain doubtful, while Ashley Miller and Lee Barnard are in contention for selection. Max Porter could also make a long-awaited return after an injury in pre-season.
Speaking ahead of the Clarets’ Emirates FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round match, City boss Rod Stringer said:
“The game at Poole last Saturday was nip and tuck without either side creating any clear chances.
“We know we’re not firing on all cylinders at the moment but if we were losing games, I’d worry more.”

Weymouth FC The Terras earned their place in this stage of the competition after defeating Vanarama National League South side Chippenham Town 2-0 after winning 5-0 at Odd Down in the First Qualifying Round.

Meanwhile Weymouth, who sit ninth in the Evo-Stik League Southern, scored an added-time penalty to defeat Basingstoke Town 3-2 in the League during the week after a 2-0 defeat to Hereford United.

Weymouth’s Sean Stewart returns to the Terras squad while Ben Thomson endured the win over Basingstoke without any damage after a recent hamstring issue. Striker Harry McGrath is also expected to be in the squad for the trip to Chelmsford.

Meanwhile, Weymouth Assistant Manager Paul Maitland - speaking to the Dorset Echo - revealed that he expects a tactical battle between the two sides tomorrow afternoon.

“We’ve watched them play and they’ve watched us play. Tactically it will be a game of cat and mouse. We’ll go there and give it our best shot.

“We showed on Tuesday we never give up and we’re going to need that. Someone’s got to have a bit of a run in the FA Cup, so why not us? It’s a difficult game and we’ll have to be very good to get something out of it.”
