Appointed earlier this month replace Ritchie Hanlon and Paul Hughes following their departure for EVO-STIK League Southern top flight rivals Hayes & Yeading United, interim boss Hobbs has agreed to continue in the role until the end of the season before Edgar makes a decision on a permanent appointment.
Hobbs, who previously managed Kings between 2009 and 2012, was set a straightforward target of keeping the club up by Edgar in a statement ahead of their clash with Biggleswade Town at Gaywood Park on Tuesday night.
Edgar said: “We are delighted Paul has agreed to carry on. He and his management team came in at a moment’s notice in difficult circumstances and had an immediate positive impact on the team.
"The players’ attitudes have been ‘spot on’ since Paul took over and I think that had a lot to do with his decision to continue at the club’s request."
He added: "For a club of our limited resources we are under no illusions. It’s going to be a tough ask just to stay in this division but I know Paul will be giving it 100 per cent to achieve that goal.”
Edgar opted to stick with Hobbs at last season's EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central champions despite no shortage of candidates for the vacant managerial post. Last week the Kings chairman said he'd been "surprised by both the quantity and quality of applicants" he'd already received.
