Centurions cup final called off

Cirencester Town suffered another blow on Tuesday after being relegated from the EVO-STIK League Southern when their Gloucestershire Senior Cup final against Bristol City was postponed until next season.

The fixture had been scheduled for Wednesday night but is now likely to be played in pre-season as the Centurions prepare to become one of four Gloucestershire clubs competing in the 2017-18 EVO-STIK League Division One South & West campaign.

The Corinium Stadium club overcame Cinderford Town 3-1 away in the competition's semi-finals before their opponents were also officially relegated from the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight at the weekend.

The Centurions, who last lifted the county silverware in 2014-15 after defeating Shortwood United in the final, expect Charlie Griffin to carry on as manager next season.
