Cambridge City will return to Bridge Road, the home of Histon FC to groundshare for season 2018/19.
The Lilywhites became tenants to the Stutes in 2013 after they left their historic Milton Road home. They spent 2 years at Bridge Road before moving to St Ives where they have been for the past 3 seasons.
Explaining the move, City Chairman Kevin Satchell said “We are hopeful that next season will be our last full year of groundsharing before we move to a new home at Sawston. With that in mind, we felt it was imperative that we moved our base closer to our Cambridge roots. This will hopefully mean we will be able to increase awareness of the club in a number of areas as we prepare to make the move to our new home. We feel that this can be achieved with our base at Histon. The environment at Bridge Road is familiar to us, having spent two years as tenants to Histon previously, and I am delighted to be linking up with them again”.
Whilst City prepare for the move back to Bridge Road Satchell reserved special mention for everyone at St Ives “They have been brilliant to us, and we have had nothing but a fantastic relationship with them and will always be grateful for what they have done for us over the past 3 years. I also want to praise our supporters for their loyalty in making the trip to St Ives during our time there. It hasn’t been easy for them, and I accept that. However, I hope that the move back to Histon will be more suitable especially that the end to our period of groundsharing is now hopefully on the horizon”.
