Swindon Supermarine have suffered an injury setback for their busy January period as they will be without skipper Zak Westlake (pictured with Physio James Russell), who suffered a fractured eye socket after his 15th minute clash of heads against Kidlington on New Year’ Day which forced him to leave the pitch.
Following swelling under his left eye over 24 hours after the incident, Zak was taken to A+E where the fracture was confirmed. Talking to him at training last night, he has no pain, just swelling, and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks but will receive further updates from eye specialists today, Friday 05/01.
Manager Dave Webb will see this as an additional blow as he is already missing Ash Taylor with a long-term injury, so he will be counting on Ryan Wood and Matt Coupe over the busy period to steady the defence who have conceded six goals in their last two fixtures.
