Barton Appeal For Help After Robbery At Gunpoint

By Jack Moore

Barton Rovers have been rocked following an armed robbery on Wednesday morning – and now the club are urging local residents to come forward if they have any information.

At 12.45am three masked men in their late teens/early twenties entered the club and forced staff at gun point to empty a safe before leaving with a sum of money and coinage via a car that was waiting nearby.

In a statement, Rovers chairman Darren Whiley said: “We believe they got away via Sharpenhoe Rd in a waiting car that has been caught on carious CCTV around the village.

“There are repeat sightings of a car on Sharpenhoe Rd, Luton Rd and Bedford Rd from earlier in the evening. If anyone has CCTV could you please have a look at the evening of Tuesday 18th and early hours of Wednesday 19th for anything suspicious?

“Did three shifty youths come into your shop, did you see a suspicious car repeatedly driving up and down Sahrpenhoe Rd or if anyone has come across some brown A5 enveloped with hand written dates on along with till receipts and Rovers paperwork please either let us know or all the police.

“Our staff are all OK but shaken and angry that scum bags could do this in what appears to be a pre-targeted attack.”
