Paulton Rovers were ousted by their local rivals Mangotsfield Utd after a 19th minute goal by Kye Simpson was enough to secure all 3 points for the home side.
On a difficut surface, Rovers rarely threatened in the first half and were thankful to their goalkeeper Andy Hannah who pulled off a string of excellent saves before Mangotsfield finally got their breakthrough.
The goal came after Mango's Kane Simpson won the ball down the right hand side and floated a cross to the back post. With the low winter sun causing hesitation at the back, brother Kye Simpson sneaked in to turn the ball home from close range.
Rovers managed their first shot on target in the 38th minute when a Nuno Felix half volley was well saved by Dorrington who then set Mangotsfield on the counter. When the ball was squared to Kye Simpson, his low shot beat Hannah in goal but Kyle Knott managed to get back on the line and save with his knees.
As the pitch deteriorated in the second half, Rovers went in search of an equaliser but it just wasn't to be and as they left themselves open to the counter, Mangotsfield had chances to put the game to bed but again, some excellent keeping by Hannah and resolute defending kept the scoreline 1-0.
