Another Win on the Road for the Rams

By David Simpson

10th Away Win..

Beaconsfield came from a goal down to record a tenth away win of the season after a strong second half performance earned three points and a League double over Uxbridge.

The opening minutes saw Alex Cathline have two decent half chances that went begging whilst Uxbridge always looked dangerous on the break. The first real shot of substance came on 15 minutes when Bajrham Pashaj sent one just wide but generally the two teams seemed evenly matched. In the 19th minute, however, ex-Ram Harry Tucker met a corner and powered home a header to put the home side into the lead.

Though Reece Yorke sent a header just over on 23 minutes The Rams were struggling to get their normal game going. Passes were over hit and too often wrong choices made whilst Uxbridge, on the other hand, without really troubling Ravan Constable, looked lively on their occasional counter-attacks. On 42 minutes, though, Ollie Jones saw his shot parried by Paul McCarthy and Cathline was first to react to thump the loose ball home and send his team into the break on level terms.

Manager Gary Meakin obviously said the right things at half time as The Rams were a different proposition in the second half. New signing Tre Mitford linked up with Goldy Capella on 57 minutes and the in form striker curled a beauty past McCarthy to put the visitors 2-1 up. Mitford and Pashaj then linked up on 67 minutes to set up Wes Daly but his shot went narrowly wide whilst a minute later a Capella header set up Mitford who kept his composure in a one on one with McCarthy to score a deserved debut goal.

Capella forced a fine save out of McCarthy on 69 minutes whilst at the other end Constable had to be alert to keep out a decent strike by Hicham Abdellah on 76 minutes. Ten minutes later a cross by Andre Costa found Pashaj but his header crashed back off the bar whilst the final minute saw Costa sent a strong shot inches wide.

For sure this was a game of two halves from The Rams but one which was ultimately too good for Uxbridge. What could so easily have been just one point turned out to be three.
